4-Wheeler Riding
When I finally arrived home tonight after work, Colton was happy to see me. I thought it was because I was finally home. It partly was but mostly he was anxious for me to arrive home so I could watch him and daddy ride the 4-wheeler. Daddy went to get it started and they were off on their riding adventure. I ran in the house to get my camera and made them slow down a few times so I could take some clear pictures.
Colton was giggling up a storm, he loves to ride that 4-wheeler. I think mostly he likes being so close to his daddy. He loves spending time with him and I just love that. Some of Colton's facial expressions are just hilarious as you can see below.
They had so much fun being together all day today and that is what matters. It's the little things in life that mean the most to our children. I hope we as parents ALWAYS remember that.

Work And Play
We decided today there was some work that needed to be done around the yard. Our back yard has really been neglected lately. Barry has been gone and I just don't like yard work, but today we didn't put it off anymore, we got on it. Barry first started weed eating the yard, because it desperately needed it.
Then Colton and Barry decided to mow, however I noticed in the back yard that there were these huge rocks. See below! How does our yard just keep having these stupid rocks appear, it's like they grow in our back yard or something.
Anyways, I picked up rocks while Barry and Colton mowed other parts in the back yard. What a busy day we had. We were so proud of the yard after we were finished though, it looked so good! There is a nice feeling of accomplishment when you complete a job well done.........however, we know this stinking job has to be done once a week! YUCK!
Colton loved every minute of riding the lawn mower with his daddy today. It wasn't work for him..........this was play time with dad! After the yard work was finished, Colton then decided to really play. He drove around in his Gator showing off for Barry and I while we relaxed on the porch swing! At least he had a nice fresh mowed place to drive on.
We had a good day today spending all of our time together once again. Even if we were working, we were together doing it. We all had fun!

Family Time
Ya know, I think sometimes we take our family for granted. We tend to forget to tell them how much we love them, how much we care about them and how much we appreciate them. We just somehow forget how precious our time is together.
My husband has just started a new profession. He has become an over the road trucker. Let me tell you from experience, this lifestyle makes you "take time to stop and smell the roses" as the old saying goes. You learn how precious your time is with each other and learn to enjoy every moment you have as a family. No fussing, no fighting, no pouting, no arguing, no yelling, no ignoring, no picking at each other.............there is not enough time to do any of that. We play, laugh, tickle, tease, smile, kiss, hug, snuggle, share thoughts and moments.........we just sit back and relish in each others company. This is the time in our lives to take everything in and enjoy every second of every day with the family God has given us.
If I could enlighten you on anything today, it would be how wonderful and special family time is. Just take a step back and look at your family life. Is it how you want it to be? Is it what you thought it would be? Are you happy and fulfilled in it? If it's not...............then change it. Don't take your family for granted anymore. Appreciate every day that you have with them and make every moment count. START ENJOYING YOUR LIFE WITH YOUR FAMILY! These are precious moments in our life to be treasured. We all deserve this happiness!

Pool Time
Well this afternoon, the boys decided to go swimming in the kiddie pool............playing in the water is more like it. What a gorgeous day to play outside, a little muggy for the adults, but a blast for the kids!

Jen's Deviled Eggs
I was talking to a friend at work the other day about an easy recipe that men seem to love. Do you happen to know what that is? Yes, it's deviled eggs. We were talking about how they really aren't hard to make at all, it's just annoying when you boil the eggs and find the shell is stuck and doesn't want to easily peel off, so then you have to forcefully remove it and then your egg white comes out looking mutilated. If you just make these for your husband, they are fine to serve them........however, if you want to serve these to guests...........who wants to serve guests a mutilated looking egg? I mean come on, let's be serious, you don't share those with your guests, you eat them in secret by yourself! That's why every time you make deviled eggs, I bet you are just like me...........you boil an abundance of eggs, because you don't know which egg is going to turn out pretty enough to serve and you want to have enough to share.
Well, I've heard every solution to this problem.
Solution #1 - Only boil eggs that you've had for a while, so non-fresh eggs that you've had for over a week or two.
Solution #2 - Make sure you add salt to the water you are going to boil the eggs in.
Solution #3 - Once the eggs start a roiling boil, place the lid on them and remove them from the stove top and let them sit for 10 minutes.
Solution #4 - Let the eggs boil on the stove top for 7-10 minutes and the immediately drain and run ice cold water over them.
Solution #5 - Once the eggs start to boil, turn down the stove top temperature to simmer and let them cook for 10 minutes.
Solution #6 - After they have boiled and cooled off in cold water, gently peel them under cold running water.
I've tried all of those solutions at different times and found some eggs turn out beautiful and others don't. I do NOT have the solution to this problem yet, but am still looking. If you have the answer to my boiling eggs issue which is when you peel each and every egg, they all come out nice and pretty EVERY time, then please pass it along to me!!!!! Other than not having a beautifully shaped perfect egg every time, they are still yummy. Here is my recipe for them that I hope you enjoy.
Jen's Deviled Eggs
10 eggs, hard boiled
1/2 C to 2/3 C Kraft Miracle Whip or mayonnaise
4 tsp mustard
paprika, for garnish
Crack hard boiled egg shells and carefully peel under cool running water. Gently dry with paper towels. Slice the eggs in half, remove the yolks and place them in a bowl and place the whites on a serving platter. Smash the yolks while using a fork. Add miracle whip and mustard and mix until smooth and no lumps(that is hard too, not having any lumps). Evenly place large teaspoons of the yolk mixture into the egg whites. Sprinkle with paprika(if you like) and serve.

Our Sunday
Last Sunday we had such a rain storm with lightning and thunder that followed. Colton was somewhat scared of the thunder, he asked me, "Mama, do you hear dat loud noise? Do you like it?" I said yes, I do like to hear the thunder. That gave me the opportunity then to explain what causes thunder and he was all ears. He hung onto every word that I was telling him. I love it when I can teach him something new and he actually pays attention. After explaining everything to him, it was time to get ready for church and head out so we wouldn't be late.
After church, we headed to mom's house for leftovers that Gabe and Ashley had from their BBQ. There is nothing better than a burger or hot dog from the grill, they always taste so much better than when you cook them on the stove top. YUM!
After we were finished eating, the boys had a time pillow fighting with Nana's stuffed animals. Sometimes they get a little stir crazy being all cooped up in the house, but once they started playing, the crazy fun began.
Have you ever heard the saying when you have one boy by itself, it's just a boy, but when you have two boys together, you only have half a boy, then when you get three boys together, there is NO boy at all. My Grandma Puddin used to say that all the time and trust me, she knew what she was talking about since she raised four boys. She always said that saying when several boys would get together to play, because sometimes it turned into chaos. Boys just don't seem to think too clearly when you have more than one playing together. Well that is how it is when Colton and Noah get together to play......there is only half a boy thinking process. They had fun though!
Later they took a nap, then when they awoke, they
decided to try on Nana's sandals and walk around in them. Funny, funny boys.
